Ross Tyner, Director of Library Services, retires after 31 years with OC
After more than 31 years with Okanagan College, Ross Tyner has retired as OC's Director of Library Services.
"Ross has played a significant role in shaping Okanagan College into what it is today, and his contributions have extended far beyond Library Services," said Roën Janyk, who will step in as Interim Director of Library Services following Ross' departure. "Through his work in interim leadership positions, his time spent representing the Faculty Association, through to work he did as a CS instructor teaching people to use the Internet, he really is someone who has been a part of our organization at all levels and across all campuses."
Ross joined Library Services at Okanagan College in the summer of 1992 and has held various roles since then, including as the Director of Library Services for the past 14 years.
Over the years, Ross has provided mentorship to many professional librarians and has been a part of numerous province-wide library committees. His student-centred approach and confidence in library and success centre teams has enabled online and campus-wide library and learning services to adapt and remain integral to the success of OC students.
On behalf of Okanagan College, we wish Ross all the best in his retirement and extend our gratitude for all that he has contributed during his time at OC.
