You don’t have to look very far to find a print shop that will take care of OC course and extra-curricular needs at half the time and price.

OC’s very own Print Services boasts colour as well as black and white printing, and can help instructors and other employees alike with physical copies as well as digitizing paper files. They even print exams and when it’s finals season, the industrial printers at the shop are often running at full steam.

“We’re here, we’re open, we’re fast and we’re cheaper,” Ann Marie Ruether with Print Services said. “Those who have printing needs don’t have to do it themselves and don’t have to deal with paper jams at the convenience copiers, for example.”

Jillian Karpick is the Print Services Coordinator and she said many at the College think that their services only have to do with printing physical assets, but they actually cater to digital needs too.

“One of the other benefits of coming to us is scanning. If an instructor has materials that they want scanned or other documents they want scanned, that’s something else that they can utilize us for as well,” she explained.

Located at the Kelowna campus, OC Print Services takes care of the College’s printing needs in all four campuses. They print posters, pamphlets, as well as course packs and workbooks, including the coil binding. Karpick and Ruether said they also offer lamination for those who wish to have their documents protected.

Other services they offer include printing greeting cards, addressing envelopes, as well as printing personalized notepads, among others.

Karpick added that besides average-sized posters, they can also do dry mounted posters, where a printout is adhered to foam core with a spray adhesive, as well as larger banners.

“It gives us a little bit more to play with, having that possibility of printing larger things for people,” she said.

And if an employee doesn’t quite know where to start or how to get set up, Print Services Administrative Assistant Jayne Stefansson is there to lend a hand. She helps new employees navigate Print Services, helping them set up their accounts, as well as sending out printing invoice reports to departments.

“We’re encouraging employees to send their print jobs to us instead of the convenience copiers because it does save their department on costs,” Stefansson said.

While Print Services is primarily here for OC employees, Karpick said they like to help others in the community too.

“Anything that’s educational, we really like to help out with those,” she said. “So, if there’s a UBCO instructor who wants to print something out, we’d be happy to help with that.”

“We get things turned around so fast that people are often impressed and pleased,” Karpick added. “That’s the feedback we get all the time. It’s definitely something we pride ourselves in.”
