As part of ongoing program reviews, there will be changes to Office Administration offerings at OC in the new year. These include:

  • The Bookkeeping/Accounting Technician certificate will be offered by the School of Business online, with five intakes during the 2026/27 academic year. Admissions will reopen in March.
  • The Paralegal Diploma and Legal Administrative Assistant certificates will be transferred internally to OC’s Arts and Foundational portfolio to better with similar programming.  Admissions to the Kelowna Campus offerings remain open.
  • Effective immediately admissions are paused to the Office Assistant Certificate, the Administrative Assistant Certificate and the Medical Administrative Assistant certificate. However, similar programs continue to be open and available to students through the InspirED catalogue, including:  Introduction to Office Administration certificate, the Office Basics microcredential, Medical Office Assistant certificate and  Dental Office Administrative Assistant certificate.

Current students enrolled in any of the above programs will not be impacted by the changes. They will be able to complete their programs as planned, with no disruption to their studies.

The Office Administration program has historically featured up to seven programs that were offered in a variety of delivery methods, both online and in-person. Student demand for the programs has changed for a variety of reasons, including lower international enrolment and the nature of careers in the area.

“I’d like to thank long-time Office Administration program chair Brenda Ridgeley for her leadership and her commitment to the program and the entire team for working to adapt to future needs of students, the community and industry,” said School of Business Associate Dean Aggie Weighill.
