Mark your calendars, join the EDISJ conversation at OC
This fall, Okanagan College is embarking on a series of activities to bring a more directed approach to the work that is being done to promote a culture of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Social Justice (EDISJ) on our campuses.
Virtual conversations with keynote presentation by Allison Hector-Alexander
Join an upcoming virtual conversation on Nov. 17 for students, and Nov. 16 and 19 for employees. The conversations will be facilitated by EDISJ allies from across OC, with care and consideration given to holding safe, supportive space for all to participate in discussion.
A keynote presentation will be delivered by Allison Hector-Alexander, Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion with the Regional Municipality of Durham and a widely respected equity and inclusion specialist. Hector-Alexander brings extensive experience in creating and leading policy, program development, education and training in anti-racism, anti-oppression, allyship and equity. Visit the EDISJ webpage for her full bio and details on how to attend a session.
Respond to this week's Thought Exchange question
In lead up to the virtual conversations, you can engage with EDISJ questions via Thought Exchange. This week's question is: “What are you doing to make people in your day-to-day life feel more included?” Your responses will help guide planning and discussion for engagement sessions and other efforts in the days ahead.

Whether through learning, teaching, mentorship, research or service, we each have a critical role to play. Our individual and collective lived experiences, perspectives, efforts and activities are essential to set a collaborative course for EDISJ going forward. Have a question? Email the EDISJ group.
