Amanda Wright 

Financial Controller, Canadian Mental Health Association Kelowna Branch 
OC Program of Study: Bachelor of Business Administration, Accounting, 2011–2015 

A chartered professional accountant, Amanda is proud to be giving back to her community as the financial controller for the Canadian Mental Health Association Kelowna Branch. With a strong focus on leadership through growth and coaching, she is committed to driving process improvement and system implementation. As a part of the Okanagan College Honours program, she completed the initial research study for the Scotiabank Centre for Non-profit Excellence, with a focus on sustainability gaps for social service organizations in the Central Okanagan. She has served as board member for United Way, Telemark Nordic Club and OGO Car Share, and taught as an accounting professor at Okanagan College. An avid skier and road cyclist, Amanda immigrated from Australia and has lived in Kelowna for 16 years.

Describe your career experience and history 

Obtained my CPA and articled with KPMG with a focus on audit. Moved over to industry with CapriCMW as controller in 2019 and taught briefly as an accounting professor at Okanagan. Moved to non-profit with CMHA in mid-2022 as financial controller. 

Describe your volunteerism and/or impact in your community 

My current position with CMHA fills my community bucket by contributing through delivery of quality service to provide greater mental health in our community. I have previously been a board member for United Way, Telemark Nordic Club, and OGO Carshare. 

Achievement, honours or special recognitions you’ve received

Describe your personal achievements (family life, pastimes, etc.) 

I immigrated from Australia and have lived in Kelowna for 16 years. I am an avid skier and road cyclist and my husband and step children love all that the Okanagan has to offer.
