The Okanagan College flag has been lowered at the Kelowna campus and this notice is shared in memory of Jerry Benninger, an OC Animation Professor who passed away on Nov. 14, 2022.
Benninger began his career with OC in June 2016. He was one of the first professors in the Animation program and made many contributions to the program’s successful development and delivery over the past six years, notes Rick Federley, Interim Dean of Science and Technology.
“We were terribly saddened to hear of Jerry’s passing. His loss leaves a hole in the animation program that will be deeply felt by his colleagues and our students. Jerry was a talented animator who was well known in the industry, and a dedicated educator who was passionate about sharing his expertise with our students. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family,” said Federley.
Prior to joining Okanagan College, Benninger held positions in the industry with Bardel Entertainment Atomic Cartoons and other leading studios.
