In Memory of Henry Murphy

OC Remembers represents obituaries and celebrations of life for members of our community who have passed away.

This notice is published in memory of Henry 'Sonny' Murphy a Civil Engineering Technology instructor at the Kelowna campus.

Henry began his career at Okanagan College in 2009 and retired at the end of 2016.

Fellow Civil Engineering instructor and friend Tom Guenther remembers Henry fondly.

"Henry was a great no nonsense realistic person who, always acted with his heart. His direct and passionate communication earned him the respect of students and friends," says Tom. "He was excited to help others when they needed guidance or physical help. This is a person who approached life and relationships with a great interest and passion. Henry had lessons to teach that were respected by students, and the rest of us. He was a great asset to the college, students, and faculty. Thanks Henry, Rest in Peace."

Civil Engineering instructor Ken Langedyk is proud to call Henry a good friend.

"Henry was a great instructor and lab technician that I worked closely with at Okanagan College. He was a kind and generous man with everything he did. He treated the students and staff exceptionally well. He organized parties for the staff and students that were great. When I helped him and his partner move, he was always smiling and joking, even during those stressful times. What I liked best about Henry was his positive attitude and generosity. I will miss him dearly."

A memorial to remember Henry will be held at a later date. You can leave a condolence message with Henry's family on his obituary page below.
