Howard Hisdal named President of the Kelowna Museums and Okanagan Military Museum Society
Howard Hisdal, a professor in the History Department of Okanagan College, is now the elected president of the Boards of Directors of both the Kelowna Museums Society and the Okanagan Military Museum Society.
The Kelowna Museums Society runs the Okanagan Heritage Museum, the Okanagan Military Museum, the Okanagan Wine and Orchard Museum, and the Central Okanagan Sports Hall of Fame. Howard will continue the policy of implementing the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which the KMS has been following since 2015.
At the Zoom Annual General Meeting of the KMS on 24 June 2021, Howard gave a presentation on two incidents of anti-racism in the Okanagan in the 1940s concerning Chinese Canadians and Sikh Canadians. Howard is a long time member of both boards and a 25-year veteran of both Okanagan College and the Canadian Armed Forces.
