Every year, Okanagan College's Careers Expo brings together hundreds of students, alumni and employers to connect and explore career opportunities across the region.
For recent Communications, Culture and Journalism graduate Clayon Williams (pictured right), Careers Expo was more than just a networking event — it opened doors to numerous opportunities.
“My first Careers Expo, I was a tad bit shy and nervous,” Clayon shared. “There were so many employers, so many different fields of employment opportunities… it was a lot to take in. But, after my first experience, I sat down with a career advisor who assisted me with career options and helped me build short- and long-term goals that fit my path as an international student. The team in Careers Hub team is fantastic — they listen and help you find what’s best for you.”
Clayon became a volunteer at subsequent Careers Expo events, assisting employers with set-up which allowed him to make important early connections. Those introductions translated into several job offers, including an out-of-province opportunity.
His friends found success through Careers Expo as well.
“A friend of mine did her internship at an accounting firm here in Kelowna for her co-op and was hired on full time when she graduated,” Clayton shared. “Another friend of mine was in culinary, attended the Careers Expo and was hired by Mission Hill Winery shortly after.”
"It's all about networking and putting yourself out there," continued Clayton. "The Careers Expo really helped me grow my confidence and create opportunities."
The Careers Hub team works hard to put on an incredible event each year to connect and support employers and students. Mark your calendars for the next Careers Expo, set for Feb. 4, 2026, at OC's Kelowna campus. Learn more at okanagan.bc.ca/careers-expo.
