A comprehensive introduction to the skills necessary to effectively work as a dental office administrative assistant. Students receive an overview of front desk skills, an introduction to dentistry and routine dental procedures, and learn maintenance of patient records, insurance forms, appointment control, and record keeping within a computerized environment. Emphasis is on effective oral and written communication and professionalism in the dental office.

This 120-hour program is an introduction to the basic skills necessary for employment as a dental office administrative assistant, including front-desk skills. Students will receive an introduction to dentistry and routine dental procedures, and learn maintenance of patient records, insurance forms, appointment control, and record keeping within a computerized environment. Emphasis is on effective oral and written communication and professionalism in the dental office.

Tuition and fees

Admission and program requirements

  • BC Secondary school graduation or equivalent, or 19 years of age and out of secondary school for at least one year as of the first day of classes.

A minimum of 50% of the program must be completed through OC.

Part-Time Schedule: Live classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00–9:00 p.m. Most Fridays are dedicated to independent study assignments in lieu of scheduled class sessions. This program is fully online and applicants from any location welcome. Students must secure a dental office placement to complete a 20 hour observation.
