This is a reminder to OC students and employees that parking lot 14 on the Kelowna campus, located next to the Centre for Learning, will be permanently closed as of Feb. 14 to make way for construction of the new Recreation and Wellness Centre.
Construction fencing has been placed around the lot and crews will begin mobilizing operations in preparation for the new facility, a prefabricated building that will arrive this year. The new Recreation and Wellness Centre is designed to prioritize student and community health through sports, fitness and group activity and will be open in Summer 2026.
While the construction project will impact 60 parking stalls, there is dedicated parking for staff, discounted parking for students and overflow parking available for all permits at the Evangel Church lot.
Typically, there are spots available on campus on any given day, particularly in lot 17, the large lot on the west side of campus. The electric vehicle parking stations that were in lot 14 have been relocated to lot 17 in front of the new campus housing building.
The Recreation and Wellness Centre is one of two important capital projects that will enhance the student experience at the Kelowna campus this year. Construction will begin in the spring of this year on the Centre for Food Wine and Tourism (CFWT). This project will result in the closure of a few parking spots in the lots fronting KLO Road as that area will be rebuilt.
