Every May, the Certified Dental Assisting Program at Okanagan College runs a Direct Patient Care Clinic. This initiative allows students to provide preventive care to family, friends and the community as part of their graduation requirements.
This year’s clinic will take place from May 9 to May 30. During your visit a limited dental examination will be conducted and a treatment plan may be prescribed by the on-site dentist. One of our certified dental assistant students will then complete the prescribed treatment.
Treatments that may be prescribed during your appointment include:
- Dental X-rays
- Enamel Sealants
- Dental Polishing
- Fluoride Treatment
- Nutritional Advice Specific to Oral Health
- Individualized Oral Hygiene Demonstration & Instruction
Appointment Criteria
If possible, please see your regular dentist for an exam and scaling if it's been over a year since your last treatment. Our screening days book up quickly and can only accommodate minimum scaling.
Ages 5 to 15 do not require pre-screening and are able to book for any appointment time during our May Patient Care Clinic.
Ages 16+ will need to be screened either at your regular dentist or by one of our dentists and hygienists on May 9th and 12th for an exam and scaling. please note these appointments are limited. A second appointment will also be scheduled to complete your remaining prescribed treatments which include: polish, fluoride, x-ray images and fissure sealants.
