In Memory of Dianne Sarnecki

OC Remembers represents obituaries and celebrations of life for members of our community who have passed away.

The Okanagan College flag has been lowered at the Kelowna campus in memory of the recent passing of Dianne Sarnecki, Client Services Assistant in the Registrar’s Office.

Dianne joined OUC in 1991.

“Di was a trooper – and insisted on working, even when her health was not 100%,” recalls her colleague Gail Brown, Manager of Enrolment Services. “Her daughter Kylene said she kept telling her mom to retire – but Di would respond that she still loved working with students and her office mates.”

Brown discovered a note Dianne wrote a few years ago, reflecting on the question “What do you believe were your most significant achievements while in this role?”

Dianne responded with, “My most significant achievements are working with students from here (domestic) and International. It’s a wonderful feeling when you meet a student that you helped from upgrading to their program (Business) and then see them at convocation. Years later you bump into them at a bank and they remember you as the first person at OC to help them.”

Details of any planned services will be shared as they become available.
