Former civil engineering instructor remembered

The flag has been lowered this week to remember a retired Okanagan College civil engineering technology instructor, Basil (Baz) Bradley, who passed away earlier this week.

“Baz was very popular as an instructor and as a colleague,” notes Gary Schwartz, one of his friends and a fellow engineering technology instructor. “He was also a great lover of the outdoors. With fellow OC instructors he hiked the West Coast Trail, canoed the Bowron Lakes and many BC Rivers. He worked with two other colleagues – Allan Hill and Norm Coe – to build three cedar strip canoes.”

Bradley began work at Okanagan College in 1978. He retired in 1999, but came back in 2003 as a term faculty member for one semester. After he left the institution, Bradley returned to the construction centre and worked on a number of projects in the region as well as in Argentina, Schwartz notes.

“All his buddies will miss him greatly.”

An obituary for Bradley has been published on Castanet. In part it notes:

“No funeral service will be held, instead pour yourself a drink and have a good reminisce. A celebration of his life will be held later.”
