Tom Dyck’s memory lives on through student support

Tom Dyck’s legacy is being honoured in a truly meaningful way. Tom lost his life in a tragic accident in February 2025, shortly after joining the Okanagan College Foundation Board.

In his memory, family, friends, and former TD Bank colleagues came together to create the Tom Dyck Memorial Bursary, contributing over $90,000 to support Okanagan College students in Trades, Culinary, and Business programs - areas that reflect Tom’s passions and his deep love for hands-on learning and education.

Growing up in a family of mechanics, carpenters, and farmers, Tom valued practical skills and was especially fond of the Carpentry and Joinery Shop on campus. As one of the first in his family to earn a university degree, he built a distinguished business career, gaining lifelong, friends along the way. He was also a passionate cook, who loved to entertain.

“My dad was very excited to be part of the College, and so it feels good knowing he is going to be helping students,” says Foster Dyck, Tom’s son.

Tom’s daughter, Tiffany Dyck, shares that her dad was always mentoring young people. The award will provide a new way for him to support students as they pursue their dreams.

“Tom was very much about giving people an opportunity and helping them achieve a goal. These funds are going to help students improve their lives while carrying on his memory. It is fantastic to know that he will continue to help more people,” adds Denise Dyck, Tom’s wife.
