Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Accounting

The Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Accounting offers the foundational accounting classes required to enter the Chartered Professional Accountants Professional Education Program (CPA PEP). Courses in this program give you that extra edge of accounting knowledge to complement your previous education and experience. You can expect classes to include knowledge related to processing, analyzing, and reporting accounting data, as well as business law and management.

Program details

This accelerated program is structured to meet CPA requirements for an accounting major and equip students with job-ready accounting skills in an accelerated format, allowing completion in as little as three semesters. It is designed for individuals who already hold a degree.

This two-year program is designed for students that have already completed an undergraduate degree.

Admission requirements

Successful completion of a recognized Bachelor Degree. It is the responsibility of the student to confirm that their Bachelor Degree satisfies the degree prerequisite of the CPA Professional Education Program.

AND

Completion of BUAD 130, or BUAD 111 and BUAD 121, or equivalent – with a minimum 60% grade.


English and Math requirements

  • English 12 with 50% or alternatives.
  • Math Requirement:
    • a minimum of 50% in any of:
    • Pre-calculus Grade 11
    • Foundations of Mathematics Grade 11
    • Principles of Mathematics 11
    • Applications of Mathematics 11
    • Apprenticeship and Workplace Mathematics Grade 11
    • Apprenticeship Mathematics 11
    • Adult Basic Education MATH 011
    • Adult Basic Education MATH 080

A WES evaluation is strongly recommended for International degrees and may be requested.


Program requirements

Recommended for Success

If more than five years have passed since completing the financial accounting prerequisite course, students are encouraged to review the material or consider retaking the accounting courses. This program requires use of financial formulas and Microsoft Excel, students entering the program should be comfortable with this.

Successful completion of the prescribed courses as listed in the program outline with a minimum graduating grade average of 60%. Students are responsible for determining if their grades meet CPA requirements.

Residency requirements

A minimum of 11 courses of the program must be completed through OC.
