Program details

This 288-hour microcredential includes comprehensive and specialized training designed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills necessary for a successful career as a nail technician. The Nail Technician Microcredential combines theoretical and enhanced practical, experiential learning to offer a well-rounded curriculum that provides the technical proficiency and skills required to excel in the nail technology industry. Learners will examine nail structure and growth and natural nail care. Hands-on experience includes manicure and pedicure services as well as techniques and procedures for artificial nail enhancements. Lastly, learners will be introduced to nail art and design practices. The importance of sustainability and incorporating eco-friendly practices will be discussed.

This training includes extensive practical experience in a professional spa training centre environment under the guidance of highly trained and skilled instructors. Graduates will possess the expertise to perform high quality nail services and build a successful career as a skilled and creative nail technician.

Please note this program is currently being updated. Applications will open for Winter 2027 soon. Schedule will be In person, 2-3 evenings per week, 5pm-9pm, and Saturdays 9:30am-1:30pm.

Admission requirements

  • Successful completion of the Beauty Council Beauty Safe General Trade Practice and Beauty Council Beauty Safe Level 2 Esthetics courses OR
  • Industry experience and completion of the Beauty Council Beauty Safe General Trade Practices Refresher Course

Program outline

Complete All of the following:
NTE 100 - Nail Structure and Growth
NTE 101 - Natural Nail Treatments - Manicures and Pedicures
NTE 102 - Nail Enhancements
NTE 103 - Introduction to Nail Art
NTE 104 - Nail Technician Industry Essentials & Career Readiness

Learners must pass each course with a minimum grade of 70% to receive the credential.

Residency requirements

A minimum of 50% of the program must be completed through OC.
