OC Program of Study: Civil Engineering Technology, 2016–2018
Aishwarya moved to Canada on her own in 2015 at the age of 18. She put herself through school by working two jobs while taking eight courses. Employed as a civil engineering technologist at D.E. Pilling & Associates and part-time volunteer youth worker at BGC Okanagan, Aishwarya is currently enrolled in the Civil Engineering Bachelor of Applied Science program at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. She obtained a 95 percent average in the Okanagan College to UBC Okanagan Civil Engineering Bridge program and, with a 93.4 percent average, was on the UBC Okanagan Dean’s List in 2022. Aishwarya has logged 100 volunteer hours at BGC Okanagan and, in July 2023, competed in a powerlifting competition. In addition to power lifting, her hobbies include hiking, biking and poetry.

Describe your volunteerism and/or impact in your community
Volunteer for the Okanagan Boys and Girls Club (2017-present). Youth worker for the Okanagan Boys and Girls Club (2022–present). Over 100 volunteer hours at the Boys and Girls Club.
Achievement, honours or special recognitions you’ve received
95% average in the OC Civil Bridge to UBCO program. 93.4% average (Dean's Honour List) at UBCO for the 2022 session.
Describe your personal achievements (family life, pastimes, etc.)
Moved to Canada at 18 from India alone. Worked two jobs while taking eight courses at OC and graduated with an 80% average. Recently obtained Canadian citizenship. Competing in powerlifting competition in July 2023.
Department of Civil Engineering Technology
Civil Engineering faculty teach various courses so students are involved in the design and construction of buildings, bridges, highways, streets, parks, subdivisions, dams, drainage and irrigation systems, water supply and sewer systems, and plants. Aspects of civil engineering and urbanization in Canada are studied throughout this program. A diverse and stimulating program, Civil Engineering Technology incorporates field trips to reinforce theoretical background and develop appropriate methods of approaches and solutions.

The Okanagan College Alumni Association (OCAA) is a non-profit organization that celebrates alumni by creating connections and opportunities. Founded in 1988, the OCAA aims to connect alumni with each other and with the College, while supporting the College's mission statement of transforming lives and communities.
