In memory of Allan Hill

A longtime Electronics Engineering Technology instructor is being remembered for his sharp wit and generous heart.

Allan Hill passed away on Jan. 7 in his Kelowna home. He was 81 years old.

Hill worked in the ELEN department from 1980 to 2007, drawing on his experience as an ELEN alum.

"Allan was well-respected and enjoyed by his colleagues and students in his time at the College. He impressed with his math skills and boundless curiosity – and loved making everyone smile with those witty anecdotes. Al will be remembered for his kindness and generosity towards students, in giving his time and support during school hours and very frequently beyond. He will be greatly missed," said Nadir Ould-Khessal, ELEN instructor.

Hill and his wife, Anne, established a $30,000 endowment in 2006 to create the Haymond Hill Award for ELEN and Water Engineering Technology students.

"Allan’s memory will live on through the student awards that will be supported for generations to come by the Haymond Hill Award endowment fund," said Helen Jackson, OC Foundation Executive Director.

An obituary for Hill is available online.
