Strategic Plan Update from Dr. Neil Fassina - Second engagement session
The following message is being sent on behalf of Okanagan College President Dr. Neil Fassina.
Hello members of the Okanagan College Community,
As you may be aware, I will be hosting a second series of engagement sessions with employees next week in our efforts to develop our next strategic plan. During these sessions, we will be building on those things we heard during our last round of discussions.
Like last time, I will be posing a series of questions to get our conversation started and our thinking going.
Our first set of conversations focused on the challenges and opportunities our regions may face in the decade to come. We also talked about those things we might be able to do to respond to those challenges.
For next week’s conversation, I would like to focus on how we think others should see us. Again, I would like you to think forward to about 2030.
Scenario #1 - Chatting with Neighbours
Imagine you have moved into a different neighborhood and are introducing yourself to your new neighbours. Early in the conversation, a neighbour asks where you work. After you tell them that you work at the college, they proceed to tell you all about the College (as though they have already forgotten you work there). What are they going to tell you about? That is, what are we known for? What is it that they say we do that no one else does for the community?
Scenario #2 – What About OC Inspires You?
Imagine that you are talking to a friend who has asked you about a job posting at the College. During your conversation, your friend asks what it is like to work at the College. What would you tell them? What is it about Okanagan College that motivates or inspires you to continue being part of our team? Of those things that come to mind, what are those things that we should not be willing to sacrifice?
Scenario #3 - Okanagan College Culture
Now imagine that your friend was successful in getting the job at the College. What do you think your friend would say is the most positive thing about joining our team?
As a friendly reminder, you can see the full schedule of engagement sessions and the link to join them on the Strategic Plan website.
I am looking forward to connecting with many of you next week.
Respectfully,
Neil
