OC Vernon flag to be lowered Dec. 18 in honour of former employee, Vi Brett
Flags at Okanagan College's Vernon campus will be lowered at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 18, in honour of the memory of Vi Brett, a long-time OC employee who retired in 2008.
Family and friends of Vi Brett are deeply saddened at her sudden passing on November 28, 2023.
In 2008, Vi retired from a long and successful career as a Program Administrator with Continuing Studies in Vernon. During her tenure, she made a significant contribution to the College and our students. She was highly respected by her peers around the province and was a trusted mentor and confidant to her colleagues. She formed many lifelong friendships with staff and instructors at Okanagan College, forged relationships with industry leaders, and graduates of her programs remain an asset in today’s workforce.
Vi was pre-deceased by her husband, Robert Brett. In retirement, Vi was able to devote even more time to her family. She was a great support to her children, Robin and Kelly, and a devoted grandmother to her four grandchildren. She supported the not-for-profit circle as an active volunteer for Philanthropic Educational Organization, Santa’s Anonymous, North Okanagan Gleaners and Vernon & District Performing Arts Centre.
Vi was known as a kind, generous, open-hearted, intelligent, witty, and creative person who fulfilled her sense of duty with grace and integrity. Her many legacies will be felt by her family and community for years to come. She is greatly missed.
A service to honour Vi’s life will be held in the new year.
