I am pleased to announce that Gillian Henderson will assume the role of Director, Human Resources at Okanagan College starting August 3, 2021. Gillian is a highly respected and experienced HR professional and we are excited to have her join our team.

Gillian has provided HR leadership to large, complex organizations in both the post-secondary and health care sectors. She brings expertise in the areas of labour relations and collective agreement bargaining, workplace learning, engagement, well-being, and equity, inclusion and diversity initiatives.  Gillian comes to the College from UBC Okanagan where she has served as Executive Director, HR since 2017.

Gillian has a proven track record as a collaborative and strategic planner who is able to align business priorities with long-term organizational goals and objectives, and has demonstrated the ability to create environments for staff to be engaged and supported at work. Gillian holds a Master of Science in HR Management from the Edinburgh Business School at Heriot Watt University in the U.K., is a Certified HR Professional (CHRP) for BC and the Yukon, and is also certified in Change Management. I hope you will join me in welcoming Gillian to OC’s leadership team.

Having worked in the post-secondary sector in the region, I’m well versed in some of the unique opportunities and challenges we face. I’m excited to build on the incredible strength of reputation that Okanagan College has as a leading employer in the region, one that values and supports its people.”

On behalf of Executive, I want to extend our appreciation to Linda Heska for her HR leadership over the past 4 years. Linda has contributed many ideas at the Leadership Team table and within the HR Department. Linda has been a voice of calm and reason in many situations, and I know her expertise and advice has been deeply appreciated. Linda will officially start her retirement at the end of July 2021 and we wish her all the best.
