Hat’s Off
The LAR Team would like to send a shoutout to the students, instructors, faculty and AFP community involved in the AFP Showcase this week. It was a rich evening filled with engaging presentations and demonstrations of learning. We made sure to take some “Poetry for Our Pockets” from the ASE poets in Salmon Arm and instructor Wanda Raides.

RIPE 2023 – Thank you for joining us!
We are thrilled to announce the success of this year's RIPE conference! With 94 attendees, a thought-provoking keynote by Futurist Richard Worzel, and over 10 engaging presentations, it was an event to remember.
The theme of this year's conference was "Food for Thought", and we were blown away by the diverse range of research and ideas that were presented. From the latest findings on Microplastics in Okanagan Lake to critical analyses of food production and social systems, there was something for everyone.
We were particularly excited to feature several student presentations, which showcased the talent and potential of the next generation of researchers. It was inspiring to see so many young people engaging with important issues and contributing to the collective knowledge of our community.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the presenters, attendees, and OC team who made this event possible. Your dedication and hard work were truly inspiring, and we are already looking forward to next year's conference.
Stay tuned for more updates and information on upcoming events. We can't wait to see what the future holds for our vibrant and dynamic community!
Funding
The Applied Research and Development (ARD) grants web pages have been updated for the 2023–24 year. ARD grants support research and development projects led by college researchers in partnership with private, public or not-for-profit organizations while encouraging collaboration with universities and/or other colleges. This funding opportunity allows the development and strengthening of research links and collaborations between different institutions and/or partners that have a common goal of creating economic, social and/or environmental benefits while contributing to the research ecosystem continuum.
