Okanagan College President Jim Hamilton was honoured Thursday night in a virtual ceremony for UBC’s 2020 Honorary Doctorate recipients.

The ceremony was broadcast to an international audience of invitees. Videos introducing the ceremony and videos featuring each of the recipients are now available online. Hamilton’s acceptance speech for his Doctor of Laws Honoris Causa, with a citation read by UBC President Santa Ono, is available here.

Another person with deep Okanagan College ties – winemaker Howard Soon, who has taught wine appreciation courses at the College for more than three decades, was presented with a Doctor of Science Honoris Causa on Thursday evening. The video of his citation and acceptance speech is available here.

Other Okanagan-area residents were also honoured, including Dick Fletcher and Christina E. Marchand and Eric Mitchell
