Leadership in Action at Camp OC

Empowering High School Students to Become Confident Leaders

The Leadership in Action program at Camp OC is designed to empower you by providing you with the tools to become a confident, effective leader. Throughout the program, you will participate in a variety of interactive learning experiences that introduce and strengthen core leadership fundamentals.

You will apply these skills by volunteering in real-life camp activities, allowing you to build your leadership abilities while receiving feedback to help you reflect on your strengths and identify areas for growth. This program provides you with a strong foundation to become an empowered leader, ready to make a positive impact in your community and beyond.

To be eligible to volunteer you must be:

  • Entering Grade 10-12 in the Fall
  • Complete the Application Package - see your school Career Counsellor

What a Leader at Camp Does:

 

  • Demonstrates positive role model behaviour
  • Assists campers with tasks and activities
  • Encourages campers to engage with camp activities
  • Spends time with campers who require extra attention
  • Develops and leads a small group activity
  • Supports the camp teacher with tasks
  • Interacts and engages with the children
  • Has fun!

Choose Your Leadership Path

Option 1
Only Available in Kelowna

  • 2 Credits
  • In-Person Orientation
  • 12 hours of Coursework + 35 hours at Camp OC (1 week)

 

Option 2
Available for All Campuses

  • 4 Credits
  • In-Person Orientation
  • 12 hours of Cousework + 70 hours at Camp OC (2 weeks)

Leadership in Action Registration Information

Once you have received confirmation of program acceptance from your School District, a link will be provided for you to register for your preferred weeks.

Camp OC Volunteer Orientation and Workshop

Camp OC Leadership in Action Orientation

All Camp OC Leadership students are required to attend the Orientation, unless otherwise agreed upon. Please see below for dates at your campus.

What to expect: You will meet the Camp OC staff, ensure you can access MyOkanagan and the online coursework, tour the campus, go over expectations and responsibilities, ask any questions you might have, prepare you for the summer activities and eat some yummy snacks.
